The history of Le Belvédère in La Barre de Monts
The Belvédère du Pey de la Blet was created in 1996, 27 years ago. The Belvédère du Pey de la Blet is a real architectural project, set in the heart of the national forest of Saint Jean de Monts. It offers an enchanting panorama of the ocean, the Vendée marshes for which the region is famous and, of course, the sand dune.
The Belvédère du Pey de la Blet overlooks the forest from a height of 25 m, offering a breathtaking view of the region. When the skies are clear and the clouds have taken a day off, you’ll be able to see the Ile d’Yeu in the distance. It’s enough to make even the least height-conscious dizzy. On the other hand, for those who are acrophobic, this may not be the tourist spot to discover.
Finally, the Belvédère du Pey de la Blet owes its name to a woman. A shepherdess named Blet, whose sheep could be seen at the top of the dune also known as La Pey.
